I’m Back!

Hello, internet! I am back and rarin’ to go! I’m so excited about blogging and knitting again that I’ve decided to paarticipate in NaBloPoMo. I’m going to post every day for the month of November. It should be fun!

Also, I’ excited to say that I’ve started my very first pair of socks. Im using Silver’s Sock Class to help me out. So far it’s been wonderful. Then again, I’ve only gotten to the cuff, so….We’ll see how it goes. I’m not too worried about making the perfect pair of socks, I’ll just be proud to say I’ve made a pair. Also on my knitting to-do list is a pair of fingerless gloves for my Aunt Neenee. (No, that’s not her real name. I made it up when I was three. Give me a break!) I was wearing mine on an outing to a petting zoo with her and her twins, B and E, and she asked me to make some for her. First I’ll have to get the yarn, but I’ve already planned a trip to my LYS, so that should be no problem.

This afternoon I’ll be seeing all my cute cousins at a little Halloween party in my grandma’s neighborhood. Hopefully. If I do make it, it should be fun!

Whoa!

I’ve been gone for months and I’m still getting views. I think that’s pretty cool. Glad somebody wanted to read what I wrote.

So my latest obsession? Renaissance faire. I love ren faires. I’ve been going more and more frequently for the past 4(?) summers. This year, I’ve been rather obsessed with the costuming part of a ren faire. My friend Jay* and I are both making our own costumes. We started them last year, with chemises and 1 skirt each. This year I’m making a second skirt, and we’re both making bodices. I cannot wait, and I’ve been stalking the forums at renaissancefestival.com

FO and Finger Knitting

I’m extremely happy, since I finished my Abby cowl. It took long enough, but it turned out beautifully, so that’s good news.

I also started finger knitting, since I was bored and couldn’t go to my LYS to get the yarn for Fetching, which looks like fun. I finger knitted New Year’s Day, when I was bored and had nothing to do, and I finer knitted last night, at my friend’s house while playing Life with Visa cards. That was very enjoyable. Not so enjoyable was slipping down her stairs. I’m fine now, just a little bruised.

Today I have to do a ton of homework, since I’ll be at Medieval Times tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll still be able to make it to my LYS for that yarn, and the needles I need.

New Year’s Bloggy Resolutions

There are quite a few things I want to get out of this blog in 2009. I love lists, so here it is in list form.
1.Comment on the blogs I read.
2.Post at least 4 times a week, if not daily.
3. Write longer posts.
4. Develop my writing skills.

I think those are good for now. I would also like to say here that I will be having two blogs, this one and Loopy’s Reviews. As you can probably tell, this one wil be a crafty/personal blog, and Loopy’s Reviews will be book reviews.

Help if you can

One of my favorite blogs, Stupid Blog Name, brought up a very important point this Christmas. Many of us have gotten many presents today, from loved ones, but as this post shows us, not everyone has that. Many people have much less. So I would encourage you tostop by and see what they’re talking about. And maybe you can make a difference in a child’s life.

I Need an Opinion…

So I’ve had this blog for a little over a month now, and I’ve gotten a few visitors. Most of these visitors come for my bookish stuff, not the knitting. So my question to you is, should I have 2 blogs, one for reading and one for knitting? Here are the positives and negatives of 2 blogs, as I see it.

Positives:

It’s more professional.
Visitors won’t be deterred by a knitting post.
It’s more organized.

Negatives:

I like my blog the way it is.
I don’t want a new name.
I will probably neglect one blog if I have two.

It seems to me that it’s what I want versus what I think my visitors want. So I figured I’d ask you guys-One blog, or two?

Review: Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Coraline by Neil Gaiman is a wonderfully creepy book. It tells the story of Coraline, a young girl who has just moved into her new flat. While exploring, she finds a door that leads to a bricked-up wall-until one night, it leads to a passage. Following that passage, Coraline discovers her other mother, and a wonderfully intriguing world similar to her own, yet not quite the same. Choosing to go back to the real world is when the story really begins.

Coraline is a wonderful book, written in the same way as a children’s book, but covering older material. I enjoyed it very much, and any fan of fantasy and spooks is sure to love it. The fact that it is being made into a movie is what made me pick it up, and I think picturing it as a movie helped add to the experience even more. I highly recommend this book.
