I’m Back!

October 25, 2009

Hello, internet!  I am back and rarin’  to go!  I’m so excited about blogging and knitting again that I’ve decided to paarticipate in NaBloPoMo.  I’m going to post every day for the month of November.  It should be fun!

Also, I’ excited to say that I’ve started my very first pair of socks.  Im using Silver’s Sock Class to help me out.  So far it’s been wonderful.  Then again, I’ve only gotten to the cuff, so….We’ll see how it goes.  I’m not too worried about making the perfect pair of socks, I’ll just be proud to say I’ve made a pair.  Also on my knitting to-do list is a pair of fingerless gloves for my Aunt Neenee. (No, that’s not her real name.  I made it up when I was three. Give me a break!)  I was wearing mine on an outing to a petting zoo with her and her twins, B and E, and she asked me to make some for her.  First I’ll have to get the yarn, but I’ve already planned a trip to my LYS, so that should be no problem.

This afternoon I’ll be seeing all my cute cousins at a little Halloween party in my grandma’s neighborhood.  Hopefully.  If I do make it, it should be fun!

Tata for now!

FO and Finger Knitting

January 3, 2009

I’m extremely happy, since I finished my Abby cowl.  It took long enough, but it turned out beautifully, so that’s good news.

I also started finger knitting, since I was bored and couldn’t go to my LYS to get the yarn for Fetching, which looks like fun.  I finger knitted New Year’s Day, when I was bored and had nothing to do, and I finer knitted last night, at my friend’s house while playing Life with Visa cards.  That was very enjoyable.  Not so enjoyable was slipping down her stairs.  I’m fine now, just a little bruised.

Today I have to do a ton of homework, since I’ll be at Medieval Times tomorrow.  Hopefully I’ll still be able to make it to my LYS for that yarn, and the needles I need.

Happy Saturday,

Knitting: Pictures!

December 10, 2008

It’s picture day!  I finally have pictures of a couple of FOs, as well as my current WIP, Abby.

The 2×2 Rib Scarf

Close-up of the 2×2 Rib Scarf.  The colors are actually closer to the first picture, but not quite that neon.

Abby- here you can see the lace-y spiraling holes.

Another picture of Abby- I didn’t know how well it was turning out until I saw this picture.  Love how it looks!

Knitting: My Favorite Scarf

November 26, 2008

I just finished the best. Scarf. Ever.  Now, you may have seen the Yarn Harlot’s posts about the Noro scarf; supposedly the most fascinating 1×1 rib ever.  I’ve never made a Noro scarf, but the satisfaction that came when I was finished with an easy, chunky, soft, warm scarf had to be better than any Noro scarf.  Picture it:  Size 17 needles.  Chunky red-orange-yellow-purple in a non-pukey combination, along with a sproingy fall yellow.  Softest acrylic you’ve ever seen.  A scarf that just grows from the needles.  That, is an amazing scarf.

Now it’s back to Abby, a more difficult but probably just as satisfying cowl.

Knitting: Squee!

November 11, 2008

I am so so so so so so so HAPPY!  I finally got to go to my lovely LYS today, to buy amazing yarn for a fabulous pattern.  The complete awesomeness of this day was compacted when I logged on to the computer and saw that 1)my old blog is STILL getting comments.  I haven’t written on that one in months.  and 2) I’ve had a bunch of views on my brand new blog.  Mostly thanks to the my review of Revelations by Melissa de la Cruz(Scroll down for it).  I am so completely happy right now!

Anyway.  I’m going to quit gushing and tell you about the fabulous yarn I just bought (with a gift card!  I didn’t actually pay for it!).  It is RowanKidsilk Haze, in a funky blue-green color.  What’s it for?  Abby, a really cool looking cowl(rav it).  The only bad thing about this cowl?  It will cover up my newly dyed RED hair.  And I’m not talking ginger red.  It is fire-engine red.  Yowza!  It’s not my whole head, just the top.  But still.  It’s so cool.

I wish I could post pictures, but unfortunately the rechargeable batteries in my camera died.  Completely.  No more recharging.  So, until I get new batteries, the poor blog will be picture-less.  Oh well.

Off to knit!

Dear USP,

Hi.  First, I want to say thank you.  Isn’t this swap thing so cool?  Then I want to say  I’m sorry.  I’m a very frustrating person to shop for.  I’m so vague about what I want.  But I really hope you don’t stress out over this.  It’s going to be really fun, and I’m sure I will love whatever you give me.  Because I’m a new knitter.  All I know is that Red Heart=bad, and cashmere=expensive.  So I assure you, I’ll love any yarn that comes into my possession.

Thanks again!

Knitting: Christmas Gifts

November 5, 2008

I’m hoping to check out this book fron the library, Last Minute Knitted Gifts.  I’m hoping there are some easy gifts in there, or I’m going to end up making all my friends bookmarks.  Anyone have any suggestions for cool knitted gifts?
